Paris Day 2: Musee d'Orsay, Eduoard Manet, L'Art de l'Automobile of Ralph Lauren, Hotel Bristol restaurant
Lisa's and Paul's first stop was at the
Musee d'Orsay
to view the
Edouard Manet
retrospective exhibit.
No pictures were allowed inside the museum,
but the photos of the sculptures outside the museum are always fun.
The exhibit focused on Manet's transition from impressionist painting to Modernism,
exploring the historical situation around him.
Then it was on to the
Musee des Arts Decoratifs
to see
L'Art de l'Automobile par Ralph Lauren
-- 17 cars owned by
Ralph Lauren.
The exhibit included the Bentley Blower of 1929,
a Mercedes-Benz SSK from 1930,
a Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupe (one of only four ever made, displayed on the exhibition poster),
a Ferrari 375 Plus form 1954 and a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa from 1957.
Dinner was at the
Hotel Bristol restaurant.
The main course was a Bresse farm hen poached in a bladder.
