August 7-14, 2010: San Diego and Lake Powell Trip
Ben flew down to San Diego on Saturday August 7th to have dinner with his cousin Mary,
and then got picked up early Sunday morning
by Drew, Grant, and Cort for the short flight to Page, AZ.
We met Mike there and loaded up the house boat for seven days on
Lake Powell
in the
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
We motored at ~10 m.p.h. for about 3 hours until we arrived at a lovely place to beach and anchor our house boat up near
the end of
Red Rock Creek.
Then we enjoyed five solid days of swimming, riding WaveRunners, exploring the canyons,
playing Bocce (14 games over 6 days), playing Hearts, reading, cooking, eating, and star gazing.
Very tiny bats came out near sunset and seemed to swoop around for hours.
We also saw small lizards and a few fish.
The
Rainbow Bridge National Park
was impressive -- the largest natural rock bridge in the world.
