Christchurch, Lamborghini Murcielago, drive to Arthur's Pass, Wilderness Lodge
We got up, had breakfast at The Daily Grind on Victoria Street, then Lisa, Max, and Nate rented a pedal car
while Ben and Lauren did errands. Then we all visited the Canterbury Museum, which had the most extensive
exhibit and collection of Maori artifacts. After lunch we were heading out of Christchurch when we drove by
Archibalds Subaru
and spotted a
Lamborghini
Murcielago
in the window! So we had to stop and get out and gawk and take pictures!
Then it was on to road 73 for Arthur's Pass. As we left Christchurch
there were a few country estates and then suddenly we were in the country. We arrived at Arthur's Pass near 4pm
and after unloading we went on the McKay Moa Forest Walk, lead by Gerry McSweeny, one of the two owners of
the Wilderness Log and a trained biologist. After a brief demonstration of sheep herding and a sheep cuddle,
we continued on for our short hike. Back in time for a shower and then dinner and bedtime. The adults sampled
a 2001
Palliser Estate
Pinot Noir -- five stars from Michael Cooper, but we thought not as nice as the other
two NZ pinot noirs we have tasted.
