Backroads Day 2: 62.3 bike miles, Calistoga, Yountville, Villagio, Hurley's
We headed out on the bikes around 9am, rode to Calistoga for lunch,
and then continued on to
Yountville.
where we checked into the
Villagio Inn & Spa
for a two night stay.
We rode 62.3 miles in 4.6 hours for a 13.5 mph average -- the best of the trip
due to few hills and lots of tail winds!
We had a surprisingly good dinner at
Hurley's Restaurant & Bar
in Yountville, accompanied by a glass of
2003 Schramsberg Brut Rose
and a bottle of
2003 Gemstone Napa Valley Red.
The Schramsberg was pleasant, and the Gemstone was powerfully fruity, if not very sophisticated.
After dinner we walked to
Bistro Jeanty
to meet friends from Napa for coffee.
