Quarre, drive to Munich, The Charles Hotel, Marienplatz, Davvero Restaurant
We awoke at 7:00 a.m. to an overcast day (our first of the trip),
enjoyed breakfast at our hotel, and then got in our BMW 116i
and departed at 8:42 a.m.
for the 362 mile (583 km) drive to
Munich.
After a slow start in the city, we hit the
A9
southbound and made great time as we passed by signs for
Leipzig,
Bayreuth,
Nuremberg,
and
Ingolstadt.
We arrived at
The Charles Hotel Munich
at 1:42 p.m. -- exactly 5 hours door-to-door including a stop for fuel (at 11:15 a.m.),
for an average speed of 72.4 mph.
(Google Maps had predicted nearly 5 hours 52 minutes, not counting a fuel stop.)
After checking into our room we went out in search of lunch and had an OK meal at a near-by restaurant.
Nate headed back to the hotel and Ben found a local laundromat and dropped off our clothes for cleaning.
Then Ben set off to explore Munich and almost by accident found the
Marienplatz New Town Hall
just as the
Rathaus-Glockenspiel
began its 5:00 p.m. daily performance.
Ben continued on to the
Isar River
and then looped back to the hotel.
