June 30 - July 5, 2010: New York City Trip!
We arrived on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 30, 2010, and took a taxi to
70 Park Avenue Hotel
-- our home for this visit.
Under increasingly hot temperatures -- getting to nearly 100F by Monday -- we spent a fair bit of time
walking to and through
Central Park
and the myriad musuems located nearby.
We also made extensive use of the
MTA
New York City Transit (aka, the "subway").
We visited
The Metropolitan Museum of Art,
The Frick Collection,
American Museum of Natural History,
The Cloisters,
Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum
(to watch the
Fourth of July fireworks
display on the Hudson River),
and
The Museum of Modern Art.
The Picasso and Impressionist collections were spectacular (The Met and MoMA)
and The Frick was especially peaceful.

We enjoyed fantastic meals at
Rosa Mexicano,
Cafe Boulud,
Eleven Madison Park,
Sarabeth's West,
Babbo Restaurant,
L'Atelier du Joel Robuchon,
Cask Bar + Kitchen,
Lupa Restaurant,
and
Nobu New York.
Sarabeth's West was great for breakfast (Ben ate there twice),
Cafe Boulud and Lupa were simply delightful for lunch,
and we had our best dinners at Eleven Madison Park and Babbo.
The heat was stifling, but (the natives told us) the humidity was relatively low compared to what is typical
for the summer in NYC. It was very crowded on the streets and in the parks, but there was certainly
a lot of energy!
